What sets the price

Montway's cost guide lists the factors: trip distance, vehicle size, open or enclosed trailer, season and demand, extra services and current market rates1. Per-mile cost falls with distance because pickup and loading are a fixed part of every trip.

Book soon after the quote. Prices move with carrier availability. Montway advises booking within a few days of a quote2 and offers a TruePrice Guarantee: once booked, if shipping rates rise within 30 days of the booking date, it covers the difference3.

Insurance. The carrier's cargo insurance covers the car in transit, and Montway says its own contingent cargo insurance covers up to $250,000 if the carrier's policy does not fully cover a valid claim2.

Car shipping questions

Is the estimate the price I will pay?

No. It is an average. A quote for your route, date and vehicle is the number that counts.

Who pays if the car is damaged?

The carrier's cargo insurance first; Montway says its contingent cargo insurance covers up to $250,000 if the carrier's policy does not fully cover a valid claim2.
